The North American Saddlery School (NASS) offers a comprehensive, structured training system designed to develop the essential skills required across the saddlery and fitting professions. Our education pathways combine traditional craftsmanship, modern fitting knowledge, and ongoing professional support to foster ethical, skilled practitioners.​ We provide training in:

Saddle Fitting Training System
​​
Introduction to Saddle Fitting
An overview of the complete saddle fitting process, combining lectures and practical sessions covering the key components of assessment and fit.
​
Benchwork & Onsite Fitting for Saddle Fitters
This hands‑on course includes girth strap placement, panel removal, reflocking, saddle assembly, and addressing saddle issues as they arise in class. Students also explore tree selection, onsite reflocking techniques, shim pad use, and girthing solutions tailored to individual horses.

Intermediate Saddle Fitting
The next stage in skill development, focusing on identifying fitting issues, making informed corrections, and adjusting saddle fit and balance for both horse and rider.
​
At any stage of the saddle fitting pathway, participation in a mentorship scheme with a suitably educated and qualified saddle fitter is strongly recommended. Attendance at Introduction to Saddle & Bridle Making Skills is also recommended to strengthen technical understanding.

Bridle Fitting Training System
​
Introduction to Bridle Fitting
Provides a comprehensive overview of bridle fit through lectures and practical instruction, addressing anatomy, adjustment, and welfare considerations.
​
This course is supported by a recommended mentorship scheme, with an Intermediate Bridle Fitting Course currently in development for 2027. Attendance at Introduction to Saddle & Bridle Making Skills is recommended.

Mentorship & Professional Support
​
Our training system is supported by a structured mentorship program, offering guided instruction for both mentors and mentees. Students also gain access to a closed group chat, encouraging community connection, professional discussion, and continued learning with input from fellow students, instructors, and international professionals.

This collaborative approach supports skill development, confidence, and ethical practice throughout each stage of training.
