Saddle Making Level Two

Cost:          $2,000, 50% deposit required to save course spot, due with application

Course Objective


The Saddle Making course consists of the construction of a rigid tree pony saddle.


Assessed Elements:

During the making you will be instructed on and practice:

  • Product quality

  • Cutting

  • Edge stain & creasing

  • Pricking

  • Skiving

  • Stitching

  • Punching

  • Finishing

  • Webbing up

  • Bellies

  • Seat

  • Panel

  • Flocking

  • Finishing the component saddle

  • Professional work practices



Theory Requirements:

  • Names and use of all tools

  • Properties and characteristics of the materials used, and the fittings required

  • Names of all parts and their function

  • Reasons for each procedure

  • Explanation of design features

  • History of Saddlery
