Our Saddle Fitters Directory

Find a NASS‑Trained Saddle Fitter

Professionals listed here have completed education or training through the North American Saddlery School (NASS) or the Society of Master Saddlers UK and are committed to continuing their development in saddle fitting with horse welfare as a primary focus.

NASS‑trained saddle fitters are educated using a non‑sales‑based, evidence‑informed approach to saddle fitting. Their training emphasizes understanding saddle construction, equine anatomy and biomechanics, and the practical realities of fitting horses in motion—allowing them to assess fit thoughtfully, rather than relying on brand‑specific systems or visual appearance alone.

What “NASS‑Trained” Means

A NASS‑trained fitter has:

  • Participated in structured education through the North American Saddlery School

  • Studied saddle construction, balance, flocking principles, and fit assessment

  • Learned to recognize fitting limitations and welfare concerns

  • Been encouraged to work within appropriate professional boundaries

  • Committed to ongoing learning, mentorship, and continuing professional development

NASS training focuses on how saddles function, when adjustment is appropriate, and when referral or further evaluation is in the horse’s best interest.

Important Information for Horse Owners

Being listed as NASS‑trained reflects participation in education and a commitment to professional development. It does not imply licensure, certification, or universal suitability for every horse or discipline. Experience levels, service offerings, and areas of specialization may vary between fitters.

We encourage horse owners to:

  • Ask fitters about their training, experience, and scope of services

  • Discuss any veterinary, bodywork, or performance concerns

  • Choose a fitter whose approach aligns with their horse’s needs

Our Commitment to Welfare & Transparency

The North American Saddlery School believes that responsible saddle fitting requires education, experience, and lifelong learning. This directory exists to help connect horse owners with professionals who value ethical practice, honest communication, and informed decision‑making.

Why an Educated Saddle Fitter Matters

At the North American Saddlery School, we believe saddle fitting is a skilled profession—not a sales role. Proper training ensures fitters understand equine anatomy, biomechanics, and saddle construction, so every recommendation supports comfort, welfare, and performance.

Educated fitters are taught to evaluate the whole horse-and-rider system, identify subtle issues, and provide solutions based on knowledge—not commission. In an unregulated industry, choosing someone trained through a professional program like NASS protects your horse and gives you confidence that the advice you’re receiving is grounded in skill, ethics, and evidence-based practice.
