  • Meals:  Breakfast (coffee and bagels), lunch and refreshments throughout the day.  

  • Accommodation is not included and must be arranged by the delegate. 

 

 

Course Objective

 

A two day course designed to give instruction in saddlery development, pattern design and practical pattern development.

 

 

Theory:

  • Design as it relates to anatomy

  • Design as it relates to empirical research

  • Discussion of developments in research techniques

  • Discussion of designs found in saddlery

  • Discussion of materials and their uses

 

Practical:

  • Looking at different research techniques in action from the simple to the advanced

  • Making a pattern from a live model

  • Making a pattern from pattern material to work from

  • Adapting patterns to address problems of fit, comfort, usability and function

  • Fitting a pattern

  • Materials for pattern work

 

 

Students will need leather tools and also a good quality scissor set. Bring ideas for tack patterns written down to discuss.
