Course Objective
A two day course designed to give instruction in saddlery development, pattern design and practical pattern development.
Theory:

Design as it relates to anatomy

Design as it relates to empirical research

Discussion of developments in research techniques

Discussion of designs found in saddlery

Discussion of materials and their uses
Practical:

Looking at different research techniques in action from the simple to the advanced

Making a pattern from a live model

Making a pattern from pattern material to work from

Adapting patterns to address problems of fit, comfort, usability and function

Fitting a pattern

Materials for pattern work
Students will need leather tools and also a good quality scissor set. Bring ideas for tack patterns written down to discuss.
